Sauti’s Quarterly User Insights Report: July – September 2020

In this quarterly report, we have analysed user growth and interactions with the Sauti platforms in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania and Rwanda. Over the past three months, Sauti gained 2,717 new users. Most of this growth has come from our Tanzania platform which we launched in February earlier this year. In July, we added weather information to the Kenyan and Tanzanian platforms, which resulted in over 20 percent of information requests on each of these platforms in the past quarter.

Sauti joins the Council of Governors in Western Kenya for outreach activities

The Council of Governors invited Sauti to train women on the use of our mobile business information platform during a sensitization and capacity building workshop focused on the impact of COVID-19 on women’s socio-economic activities.

Sauti has officially partnered with Agricultural Market and Development Trust (AGMARK). AGMARK is a not-for-profit development organization with a regional presence in 18 countries in Eastern, Western and Southern Africa.

Sauti kicks off a two year project with TradeMark East Africa supporting Women in Trade in Kenya

Sauti, in consortium with Partner Africa and TruTrade, have been tasked with implementing a project under TradeMark East Africa’s Women in Trade Programme to tackle the needs of women in agricultural trade in Kenya. TradeMark East Africa’s Women in Trade (WiT) programme seeks to contribute to the greater inclusion of women in trade as one of the pathways to increased business competitiveness and increased trade across East Africa, and beyond.

Sauti supports BORESHA to launch a mobile platform for businesses in the border regions of Kenya-Somalia-Ethiopia

Sauti East Africa is proud to have been working with the BORESHA project to develop and launch a mobile information service to support small businesses with relevant information in the border region of Kenya, Somalia and Ethiopia. The main aims of the project are to promote economic and private sector development, and greater resilience among vulnerable groups such as youth, women, internally displaced persons, and transitional communities in the target cross-border region.

Sauti expands offering to include weather forecast updates

Agriculture has been proven to pull the maximum number of people out of poverty according to research. Weather has a significant impact on agriculture and therefore access to weather forecast information allows farmers and traders to make better decisions that help them plan efficiently, minimize costs and maximize yield profits. Sauti has now added weather forecast information to our platform.

Sauti supports users with up-to-date information on COVID-19

Accessibility and dissemination of accurate information can help control the spread of COVID-19 and protect vulnerable populations in society. Sauti has added awareness and prevention information to our existing trade and market information platform as a response strategy to help cross border traders fight against the spread of the virus.
